Transforming the Retail Industry through Innovation

Computer vision is employed in retail for tasks like inventory management, object recognition, and customer analytics. It can be used for shelf monitoring, automated checkout, and personalized marketing by analyzing customer behavior.

Self-Checkout & More in Retail.

Computer vision understands human interactions and monitors the movement of the products.  Cashier-less checkouts are standing out, handling many retail store pain points such as long queues. On top, automatic replenishment captures image data and performs a full inventory scan by tracking the items on the shelves in milliseconds. Even suspicious activities in stores are unavoidable with CCTV cameras and Al-powered systems. In-store cameras capture the video data of a computer vision system to count people entering and leaving stores at a specific time.

Read Text and Barcodes.

OCR is a computer vision technique that reads barcodes on the product’s packaging. It automatically detects, verifies, converts, and translates barcodes into simple, understandable text. The text from photographed labels or barcodes is extracted and verified against the database. The objective is to identify wrong-labeled products, check expiry, get information on product quantity, and track packages at all stages of development and processing.

Facial Recognition.

Face recognition technology matches photos of people’s faces with their identities. It’s a crucial technology for biometric authentication. Today, this computer vision technology allows many users to unlock their phones by showing their faces. Using a front-facing camera, mobile devices determine whether a user is authorized to use a device based on an analysis of the image.
